High Elves

"Honey what do you want for your birthday?" -- I'm single so I don't hear that. lol -- I have to be my own 'husband' (and 'wife') -- so I got myself the High Elves in LotRO. Been wanting to play them for a long time... well, I finally got them open to me.

LotRO: High Elves opening.... We have Elendil the Tall, High King Gil-galad, Anárion, Isildur, Glorfindel, Elrond, Círdan & Thranduil, Prince of the Woodland Realm.

The High Elf introduction begins in the Dagorlad & participate in the Battle of Dagorlad in the War of the Last Alliance. They end up in Rivendell recovering from the battle, then onward to Celondim in Ered Luin.

Anniversary

Ha -- I'm now an 8 year player on Live (was 1 year on Bullroarer before this - 9 years total with LotRO)- great day for my Anniversary with the game - today is LotRO's 12th Anniversary celebration!!

DDO & LotRO Years

Doing some figuring on my gaming I realize how long I've been with DDO & LotRO - both games I tried out and loved when in the subscription-based models and fell in love with both. When they became F2P models I was able to become a full time member to both. DDO I haven't really put money into it (yet) for all these years (sadly) but I have with LotRO.

DDO went F2P in 2009 so I've been with them for 10 years now - my first MMO RPG home.

LotRO went to beta test for F2P in 2010 and I was on Bullroarer for a year beta testing. Then they went live in 2011 with F2P I ended up on Crickhollow. So this year I'll be 8 years live, 9 years total with LotRO.

10 years of DDO -- 8 years of LotRO (live), plus 1 year beta tester -- 9 years grand total of LotRO.

A long time to be with Turbine Inc. games - but I love them... Here's to many more years with both!!

Tolkien Reading Day

Tolkien Reading Day is held on the 25th of March each year.

It has been organized by the Tolkien Society since 2003 to encourage fans to celebrate and promote the life and works of J.R.R. Tolkien by reading favourite passages. We particularly encourage schools, museums and libraries to host their own Tolkien Reading Day events.

 

Why 25 March?

The 25^th of March is the date of the downfall of the Lord of the Rings (Sauron) and the fall of Barad-dûr. It’s as simple as that!

Each year on 3 January, the Tolkien Society encourages Tolkien fans from across the world to celebrate the Professor’s birthday with a simple toast-drinking ceremony.

At 9pm your local time, simply raise a glass and toast the birthday of this much loved author. The toast is simply:

All you need to do is stand, raise a glass of your choice of drink (not necessarily alcoholic), and say the words “The Professor” before taking a sip (or swig, if that’s more appropriate for your drink). Sit and enjoy the rest of your drink.

8 Years of F2P

Last month was my 8 year anniversary with Lord of the Rings Online - sign up 7/9/2010. I beta tested for them on Bullroarer the year before that - game became F2P after that so this is the F2P sign-up date. That is a grand total of 7 years with LotRO (7 years Crickhollow, 1 year Bullroarer). Still playing off and on all these years later.

I had reached the top of the game a couple of years ago and decided I wanted to do that again so I re-rolled every character so that I could start at the bottom and go back up the gaming ladder. I still have fun in-game.

Better

LotRO: Better! 1 of each class instead of 2 of each (minus the Hunter - I have a 2nd Hunter). That gives me 11 toons -- all in their 40s... will be pushing it to 50 with all of them as quickly as possible. I'm loving this... I can concentrate on all my main toons now. 

My Crew

This past week in LotRO: Faron, Augustinn, Taaure and Linlorien all hit level 45. Hodrath, Ahron, Marinnus and Oodon all hit level 42.. I'll get them to 45 and then level up the rest of my crew: Bontao, Boroamir, Coremar, Dilliar, Hoppii, Lyoin and Shanyar (they are all level 40 now).

Transfering Now!

Oh my gosh I did it!!

1st I *think* I've fixed the internet problems, finally!

2nd I've grinded  2495 worth of LotRO points in a couple of weeks to transfer Coremar to Crickhollow!!! He's in transfer state now!! I might have to change his name when he gets there but that's fine I'll use double letters if I have to!

I'm so excited - pleased this is over with!! HAPPY DANCE TIME!

Correction

I must correct myself: I am not almost 8 years total with LotRO but almost 7 years total with them. Almost 6 years now with this account (not 7) and one year before that with another account  on the Bullroarer Beta server - that's 7 years total NOT 8!!  I looked at it wrong the other day - and I must own up to my mistake!! LOL!! OK Almost 6 years with this account now and I've rarely experienced lagging, "rubber-banding" and other weird things...

Maybe?

OK *maybe* it was the old modem going out, *maybe*. New modem installed, game worked fine for a while then started acting up again. Racking my brains out trying to figure out WTF is going on... LotRO and DDO has never performed so badly (even when they are working on the games). I'm bullheaded! So I got to looking closer tonight at the modem configurations and such... discovered that the date and time were wrong on the modem... that can cause lots of PC problems if your PC is not correct for your timezone and date -- modems are no exceptions!! Now that is set correctly and the game cleared up..... *maybe* I have found the culprit!! I hope!! Hahhaahahaaaaaha!! 😂😬

It's Both

OK. Cortana says "can't connect to the internet right now"... that tells me it's this end quickly. So I will have to change the Ethernet Cable after all then... and might still have to call the ISP if the problems persist after that!! At least Cortana did something right this time LOL.

LotRO is working on the game right now - having side server problems on top of all that so it's not just one thing going on here then!! Lots of loss with LotRO:

It's definitely worse with LotRO right now - and they are having server issues ATM.

Anyway - it's a combo of things going one at once. When it rains it pours. It's hard to tell what is going on sometimes... just glad Cortana opened up her mouth about it - finally!!

Here We Go Again

LotRO cleared up for a few hours today then the problems started all over again with it.

LotRO is getting worse this evening with it's problems... trying DDO now. Having problems there too... now I'm guessing it's the Ethernet Cable OR the ISP again. Shit! Why in the hell can't I get things figured out?! OK I've done everything I can at my end but change out that cable... Turbine  is working on some things as well so I can't tell crap right now! And I will say it's pissing me off because I've spent real money on LotRO and I can hardly play it now. Why is it every single time I up my status to VIP some bullcrap starts with LotRO?! The last 2 times I upped to VIP something goes wrong and I quit playing it for awhile... I start playing again things are great until I spend real money for VIP just to have crap start all over again.... yeah I'm mad right now.

All Good On The Gaming Front Again!

I don't wanna brag too soon, but LotRO is back to normal again!! Smooth playing as it has been for almost 7 years... I've rarely had a problem with lagging, rubber-banding, dragging or other... just the last few days of it being a bear to play. It's good to play my LotRO again without the problems!! Thanks Turbine!! 😘😜

Gaming Issues Lately

Lately I have been experiencing a lot things I've rarely experienced in my (almost) 7 years of gaming on this account with LotRO: Several hours and days worth of "rubber-banding", stopping  and starting, major delays in accepting and turning in tasks, quests, opening up the vault, speaking with an NPC or Vendor etc...  This is not a once in a while thing this is an most of the day, everyday thing. It will clear up for a bit then start right back again.

I've cleared out the DNS cache, installed a new modem, the tech looked at all the wiring and found it great with several tests -- all this has helped the internet to load faster now and made the online radio work well again but not helping at all with LotRO issues. The only other problem it might be at home or on this end is the Ethernet Cable - I might have to get another one of those.

LotRO is having some side server issues they are working on right now - so that might be the problem. LotRO works great sometimes but other times I'm having lots and lots of gaming issues - stuff I've rarely experienced in almost 7 years on this account with them.

I've tried Turbine's DDO and not a problem with that game - but I wasn't on it that long before I switched back to Turbine's LotRO to see if I'm still having issues and I'm only having a little bit of delay issues currently.

When LotRO starts acting really badly again - I'll switch to DDO and see if it's acting the same. I'll try/test it again... if DDO is doing it then it's definitely on this end!! If DDO is fine then it's definitely LotRO and they are working on getting errors fixed as I type this blog entry out.

I'll know soon enough I guess lol!!

Back In Game Again

Here I am back in the game again. I had been out since October minus logging in to pay the housing quickly then back out again. It was 3 months since I did my housing!! LOL.  That's life sometimes... you can always be in the game constantly - real life happens.

I've decided to put 2 of my characters on "hold" - Phayel and Charrwin  -- they can hold extra stuff for my other toons, the rest of them I will play.
